IPS e.max ZirCAD Prime Esthetics: Impressions

Synonymous with prime quality

GT Technology is the key to the seamless progression of shade[1] and translucency within the disc and the outstanding accuracy of fit of the product. It is based on a blend of two zirconium oxide raw materials of different strengths and optical characteristics.

Highly translucent incisal zone
  • Optimally coordinated shade

  • Highest translucency in the incisal zone

  • Highly esthetic 5Y-TZP zirconium oxide

  • Flexural strength: 650 MPa[6]

  • 3-mm thickness, irrespective of the disc thickness

Innovative transition zone
  • Seamless, layer-free transition zone

  • Natural shading from dentin to enamel

  • Increasing translucency in the incisal zone

  • Increasing flexural strength in the cervical zone

  • 4-mm thickness, irrespective of the disc thickness

High-strength dentin zone
  • Maximum stability in the tooth neck zone

  • Coordinated shading and transluceny

  • IPS e.max ZirCAD Prime Esthetic: high-strength 4Y-TZP zirconium oxide featuring 850 MPa[5] flexural strength

  • IPS e.max ZirCAD Prime: high-strength 3Y-TZP zirconium oxide featuring 1200 MPa[4] flexural strength

  • Hight of the dentin zone varies depending on the disc thickness

The unique GT Technology is at the heart of IPS e.max ZirCAD Prime and IPS e.max ZirCAD Prime Esthetic. Innovative processing technology is used to manufacture the disc using a combination of two zirconium oxide raw materials (3Y-TZP or 4Y-TZP with 5Y-TZP) to produce the striking properties of the IPS e.max ZirCAD Prime material.

All IPS e.max ZirCAD Prime discs – irrespecitve of their thickness – have an incisal zone of 3 mm. It is composed of an ultra-translucent 5Y-TZP zirconium oxide material. The layer-free transition zone, which is significantly responsible for the highly esthetic appearance of the material, is produced as a result of the GT Technology and it is 4 mm thick.
The thickness of the dentin zone, which is composed of 4Y-TZP (IPS e.max ZirCAD Prime Esthetic) or 5Y-TZP zirconium oxide (IPS e.max ZirCAD Prime), varies depending on the thickness of the various discs. It ranges from 7 mm in the 14-mm disc up to 18 mm in the 25-mm disc.

Natural-looking esthetics[1]
The seamless progression of shade and translucency ensures ensures a natural transition from dentin to enamel. The innovative filling technology sets the disc apart from other traditionally manufactured discs and has no layers within the disc.
Accuracy of fit
Advanced and optimized powder conditioning ensures adjusted sintering kinetics. This results in uniform shrinkage behavior and outstanding accuracy of fit.
Optimized translucency
The compaction of the discs by means of "Cold Isostatic Pressing" (CIP) ensures not only an enhanced microstructure but also optimized translucency.
Precise shading
Simple polishing or glazing produces an excellent shade match with the A-D shade guide. Staining is not necessary. For the efficient fabrication of shade matched restorations.

“e.max Prime has become my number one choice for strength and beauty. We finally have an esthetic zirconia that is strong enough for splints and bridges and translucent enough to be comfortably used in anterior cases. It‘s gradient technology creates Y3 strength where it is needed as well as Y5 translucency, to create a functional, beautiful restorative. It is truly worthy of the name e.max!“

Edgar Jimenez

FAACD

“Our laboratory focuses on full mouth reconstruction and cosmetic dentistry. The material choice for us is e.max. The reason we love e.max is very simple. It is beautiful and it is very strong. We want to deliver a product to our clients that is going to be very durable and it’s going to be beautiful. e.max definitely covers those two criteria. It’s also easy to work in the lab. It’s easy to layer, easy to contour. We do a lot in the purple stage before we sinter and it’s easy and when we are done we know that we are delivering a quality product that is strong and it’s beautiful. Our doctors trust that we are going to deliver a high-end quality product. We trust Ivoclar with e.max because they simply deliver all the time. Thank you."
