Adhese 2 is the latest addition to Ivoclar’s portfolio of adhesives, offering greater clinical flexibility and efficiency in day-to-day practice. The new universal adhesive combines light and dual curing capabilities in a single product. It is the first adhesive that can be applied directly from the VivaPen® in a dual-cure mode – without the need for an additional activator. Adhese 2 can be used in all etching techniques and can be combined with all light- and dual-curing composites, giving dentists greater freedom of choice in everyday clinical practice.
Adhese 2 was developed to simplify everyday clinical workflows and covers a wide range of clinical applications. The innovative blue DC cannula enables, for the first time, the direct application of a dual-curing adhesive via the VivaPen® system – without the need for an additional activator. In addition to light curing, the co-initiator-coated cannula tip enables additional chemical curing when used in combination with a dual-curing composite – without the need for a separate dual-cure activator.
"With Adhese 2 in the VivaPen and the new option for dual-curing applications, we significantly expand the clinical range of applications: Dentists can now cover an even broader range of clinical situations with a single adhesive. This simplifies clinical workflows and increases efficiency – a clear benefit for every practice."

Dual-curing is achieved when using the blue DC cannula in combination with a dual-curing luting composite. This ensures reliable polymerisation even under light-limited conditions, e.g. when luting indirect restorations or endodontic posts. The combination of Adhese 2 with the blue DC cannula and Variolink® Esthetic DC results in consistently high bond strengths on both enamel and dentin, regardless of the etching technique used, contributing to reliable, long-lasting restorations.
Adhese 2 can be applied in a minimum layer thickness of approx. 10 µm, supporting the precise fit of indirect restorations and the seamless integration of direct fillings. It also increases efficiency in everyday clinical practice: when applied from the VivaPen®, it allows controlled, material-saving intraoral dispensing and helps reduce material waste, enabling up to four times more single-tooth applications per millilitre compared to bottle systems. Short curing times enable efficient workflows in direct and indirect procedures.
