Ivoclar’s Biofunctional Prosthetics System (BPS®) is a clearly structured, end-to-end workflow, encompassing all stages from initial impression-taking to fitting the completed dentures.
BPS coordinates the work of dentists and dental technicians into a single coherent workflow. Clinical precision, technical expertise and carefully matched materials lay the groundwork for high- quality, reproducible results. It is only when dentists and dental technician work as team that they can create dentures that are both functionally and esthetically convincing.
Ivoclar has optimized the BPS denture workflow to reduce variation and increase process reliability. The BPS workflow is based on clearly defined clinical and technical protocols, carefully coordinated materials and purpose-designed instruments to ensure standardised procedures throughout the entire treatment and fabrication process. BPS therefore provides the foundation for consistent, accurate and functionally sound results across a wide variety of cases.
For dentists, this means increased confidence throughout the treatment process, smoother communication with the laboratory and a reliable solution for patients. Dental technicians can plan more confidently, avoid unnecessary rework and streamline their procedures – whether they use conventional or digital techniques.
The BPS workflow channels the work of the practice and laboratory into a coordinated process, boosts efficiency and lays the foundation for high-quality, reproducible dentures.

Biofunctional Prosthetic System
The BPS workflow is a clearly structured, end-to-end process for making high-quality dentures, covering all steps from impression-taking to denture insertion. It brings the dental practice and laboratory together as a coordinated team and can be used with both conventional and digital procedures.
The goal of BPS is to make it easier to fabricate well-fitting, functional and esthetic dentures in a consistent, reproducible quality, using a workflow that improves efficiency and process reliability.
BPS dentures are created by following the complete BPS workflow in the dental practice and laboratory – from impression-taking to denture insertion. The materials, devices and processes used in the workflow are optimally coordinated with each other.
You need to attend a BPS Intensive Workshop.
Dentists:
1.5–2 days (conventional)
2 days (digital)
Dental technicians:
3 days (conventional)
2 days (digital)
Denturists:
3.5–4 days
3 days (digital
Digital processes are ideal for laboratories looking to increase production volumes while reducing costs.
Analog manufacturing is often the right choice for smaller production volumes, in cases with high demands on customisation and esthetic appearance and in situations that require in-depth technical expertise.
* One fewer session, as functional impression-taking and Gothic arch tracing are performed in one session. Precise planning and well-defined working steps eliminate the need for a try-in.
