The University of Puthisastra (UP) in Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, which was founded in 2007, serves as the base for the assignments of our outreach teams. When our project manager Dr med. dent. Philipp Schneider and his project supervisor Dr Shafe Shaikh visit schools and other educational institutions they set up several workstations on site. One of these stations is equipped with one of our mobile dental units. Involving dental students has the dual benefit of enabling the treatment of more patients while offering students valuable hands-on training opportunities.

In addition to our work at the University of Puthisastra (UP), we routinely carry out awareness-building activities at various schools. Our course content is now fully recognized by the Collaborating Centre for Innovation in Population’s Oral Health (CIPO). CIPO represents all the preventive dental projects and initiatives in Cambodia, and the centre is closely linked to the Ministry of Health. One of the places, where we used our mobile dental unit, was an institution that catered for children with special needs.

Impressions of Cambodia

We are committed to enabling children to live a life free of tooth decay, reducing the number of school dropouts caused by dental pain, to ultimately improve both educational opportunities and quality of life for children.
