Ivoclar Joy enables us to provide young people in less privileged regions with dental treatment and information about the importance of preventive care. As a consequence, we can give them new perspectives for a better future, because untreated dental problems often result in children dropping out of school, which has a significant impact on their future prospects.
The Steering Committee of Ivoclar Joy, comprised of the Vice President of the Supervisory Board Christina Zeller and CEO Markus Heinz together with the project management consisting of Dr Tatiana Repetto-Bauckhage and Dr med. dent. Philipp Schneider, have established the first base stations in Africa, Asia and South America. The program’s aim is to raise awareness and teach about dental health as well as provide dental treatments. Apart from providing materials and equipment, we make available the necessary personnel and cover all the associated costs.
In order to implement our mission on site, each of the local teams has been provided with a mobile dental unit. These units have been specially developed by the Swiss company BPR. They are routinely equipped with instruments and consumables for Ivoclar Joy’s assignments. In addition to delivering materials, our teams regularly demonstrate working methods with Ivoclar products and carry out treatments. The work of the outreach teams is done according to the following three phases:
1) Prevention and oral hygiene
2) Small restorations
3) Basic fillings and surgical procedures.
