High-quality universal composites have made monochromatic fillings increasingly popular even in the anterior region. However, bulk-fill composites – known for allowing larger layer thicknesses – have traditionally been seen as lacking in esthetics. With Tetric plus, we are setting a new standard: Its optimized formulation bridges the gap between esthetics and functionality, allowing layer thicknesses of up to 4 mm while maintaining excellent esthetics.
Tetric plus is a sculptable universal composite that can be applied in layers up to 4 mm in thickness.

Our technologies for greater esthetics, quality and efficiency
With Tetric plus, we have optimized every component, in particular the 4-filler technology. The combination of spherical and non-spherical fillers of various sizes enhances the material's handling, strengthens its mechanical properties and allows for quick polishing.
This combination also has a significant impact on the material's chameleon effect: The four different filler types are precisely coordinated to scatter incoming light optimally, while the monomer matrix intensifies this effect with carefully adjusted, intentionally varied refractive indices.
We have measured and analyzed the tooth colours of nearly 400 people. In doing so, we were able to identify four shade clusters that optimally cover the colour spectrum of natural teeth. Based on these four clusters and in line with the VITA* shades, we formulated Tetric plus.
Tetric plus is designed to deliver an enhanced chameleon effect. With just four shades, you can cover the entire spectrum of natural tooth colours. In its cured state, Tetric plus absorbs and scatters light similarly to natural tooth structure, allowing it to blend almost seamlessly with the surrounding tooth colour. This effect is achieved through the ideal interaction between monomers, fillers and pigments.
Tetric plus is a light-curing dental material. To enable reliable and quick light-curing, Tetric plus is translucent before polymerization. The yellowish tint makes it easier to identify unpolymerized areas.
After polymerization, Tetric plus appears more opaque and adapts well to the surrounding tooth colour due to its pronounced chameleon effect.

The requirements placed on 4-mm composites are more demanding, as the thicker layer must not cause increased shrinkage stress during polymerization.
Our solution: The patented chain regulator. Together with the shrinkage stress reliever — a special filler with an exceptionally low elasticity modulus — the chain regulator reduces both volumetric shrinkage and shrinkage stress. As a result, the shrinkage stress of Tetric plus is comparable to that of conventional composites.
Ivocerin is our patented light initiator, which we have already been using for Tetric PowerFill and Tetric PowerFlow. It provides for efficient curing of layer thicknesses up to 4 mm. The highly reactive light initiator enables fast and reliable polymerization – for durable, long-lasting restorations and a more efficient treatment workflow.
