Adhese® 2

More universal than ever.
The first VivaPen® with
dual-cure power.

Always one click ahead – with Adhese 2 in the VivaPen.

Adhese 2 is a universal adhesive with light- and dual-cure properties, suitable for both direct and indirect restorations and all etching techniques. The adhesive is especially suitable for clinical situations where effective light polymerization cannot be ensured.

Your benefits

Universal bonding - redefined

  • Click & bond: precise dispensing with the proven click mechanism
  • Fast, controlled intraoral application[1]
  • Extended field of application thanks to the innovative blue DC cannula[3] for dual-cure[2] applications (e.g. for the adhesive cementation of indirect restorations and root canal posts)
  • No separate dual-cure activator is required when using self- and dual-cure composites
  • Universal application: for the adhesive cementation of direct and indirect restorations
  • Compatible with all etching techniques

Proven quality

  • Reliably high bond strength vaules (>25 MPa) on enamel and dentin[4]
  • Consistently strong adhesion on both dry and wet dentin
  • Integrated desensitizing effect, minimizing the risk of postoperative sensitivities
  • Predictably high bond strength values – comparable to established gold-standard systems
  • Same bonding performance as the clinically proven Adhese Universal

Convincing esthetics

  • Very low film thickness (approx. 10 μm) after light-curing for a
    precise fit of indirect restorations
  • Self-cure mode with the blue DC cannula[3] increases the accuracy of fit of indirect restorations, as potential pooling effects do not compromise the result.

Efficient workflows

  • Efficient dispensing, reducing cost and material waste: up to four times more applications per ml compared with conventional bottles[5, 6]
  • Approx. 187 single-tooth applications per VivaPen[5,6]
  • Fast, reliable light-curing in 5 seconds (using a light intensity of 2000 mW/cm2) – and only 3 seconds for restorations of Class I and II cavities in permanent posterior teeth with occlusal light-curing using the Bluephase PowerCure

Field of application –
direct restorations

  • Blue DC cannula[3] or black LC cannula[7] for light-curing applications
  • Direct-placed light-curing composite restorations
  • Direct-placed core build-ups with light- and dual-curing composites (no activator required with dual-cure composites)
  • Repair of fractured composite restorations
  • Desensitization of hypersensitive cervical areas

Field of application –
indirect restorations

  • Blue DC cannula[3] for reliable dual-curing in combination with dual-cure luting composites
  • Adhesive cementation of indirect restorations with light- and dual-curing luting composites (no activator required for dual-cure cements)
  • Adhesive cementation of root canal posts with dual-curing luting composites
  • Suitable as primer for restorations made from Tetric CAD composite blocks
Quality you can rely on

Clinical success begins with reliable bonding. Adhese 2 – in the unique VivaPen – sets a new standard in universal bonding, expanding its applications while delivering the trusted high bond strength needed for durable esthetic restorations.

High bond strength values for greater confidence

Adhese 2 achieves high bond strength values (> 25 MPa) on enamel and dentin[4] – irrespective of the etching protocol used. The material's high moisture tolerance ensures consistently strong adhesion on both dry and wet dentin. Adhese 2 delivers the same bonding performance as the clinically proven Adhese Universal and provides bond strength values on par with those of established multi-component gold-standard systems.

Integrated desensitizing effect

Adhese 2 features an integrated desensitizing effect that effectively minimizes the risk of postoperative sensitivity and associated recall visits. The universal adhesive forms a mechanical barrier that reliably seals the dentin tubules, eliminating the need for a separate desensitizing agent.

Precise seating and esthetic results

Applied in the self-cure mode via the blue DC cannula[3], Adhese 2 helps increase the fit of indirect restorations, as potential pooling effects will not impede the fitting accuarcy. With a low film thickness of about 10 μm, Adhese 2 ensures a precise fit even after light-curing for indirect restorations and seamless integration of direct restorations for optimal esthetic results.

Dual-cure application directly from the VivaPen

The blue DC cannula – all-round solution for maximum clinical flexibility

Thanks to the blue DC cannula[3], Adhese 2 enables reliable dual-cure application directly from the VivaPen[2], making it suitable for light-curing applications, as well as for clinical cases where effective light polymerization cannot be ensured, such as the adhesive cementation of indirect restorations.

Dual-cure application via innovative cannula tip

The tip of the blue DC cannula[3] is coated with a co-initiator for self-curing applications. Also, no separate dual-cure activator is required for compatibility with self- and dual-cure composites.
The proven black LC cannula[7] is suitable for light-cure only applications,  for example in direct restorative procedures or when adequate light polymerization is ensured.

Reliable cementation of indirect restorations

In combination with Variolink Esthetic DC and the blue DC cannula[3], consistently high bond strength values are achieved on dentin and enamel, irrespective of the etching technique used – providing reliable long-lasting results.
